The Bell of St. Mary’s. Our thanks to Mike (and his truck) who on Thursday helped deliver the church bell, formerly of St. Phillip’s, Regina and St. George’s, Pilot Butte, now entrusted to St. Mary’s! Cry aloud, inhabitants of Zion, ring out your joy, for the great one in the midst of you is the Holy One of Israel. ( Isaiah 12.6).

Gospel in the Garden for children begins to today during the 10.30 service. Our theme is “The Seven Days of Creation” and will include Scripture, Reflection, Song, Prayer, Watering and Weeding the Garden, and Side-Walk Chalk Mural designed by St. Mary’s Junior “Artist-in-Residence” Lucy.

Summer Offerings. During the summer holidays when many Parishioners are away and out of town, our weekly collections often decrease by a considerable amount, but the costs of running our parish stays the same. Before you go away on holidays this summer, please consider signing up for electronic giving. Electronic giving provides a convenient option for you and supports consistent giving to the parish for all the work it does. If you are already an electronic giver, we thank you. If not, we graciously ask that you consider this option. Forms are available at the back of the church by the collection plate.  Forms can also be requested by emailing stmarysanglican@sasktel.net.

Congratulations and Blessings to Myka on the occasion of her graduation this year and receipt of her High School Diploma!

Congratulations and Blessings to ST. Mary’s Ethiopian Orthodox Church on the occasion of the celebration of their Patronal Festival at St. Mary’s last Saturday.

As the demand for food banks continues to increase, these fridges are an important support for those who may not have enough to feed themselves or their families.

Regina’s three community fridges can be found at
1) 1510 12th Avenue
2) 3037 Dewdney Ave
3)  Cathedral Fridge is located on east parking lot of Holy Rosary Cathedral.

If you are able, we encourage you to consider donating.

PARISH LIFE NOTES

ROGATIONTIDE from the Latin word, “ rogare” ( “to ask”) is a three day period of fasting and prayer which begins this Monday,  leading up the Feast of the Ascension, which we celebrate on Thursday. In England, a common feature of the rogation days in former times was the ceremony of “beating of the bounds” in which a procession of parishioners, led by the minister, churchwarden, and choir would proceed around the boundary of their and and pray for its protection in the forthcoming year. The Book of Common Prayer encourages us in rogationtide to make use of the Great Litany  ( page 30) in our prayers, wherein we pray and intercede on behalf of the church and the entire world for its many needs. Today, being Rogation Sunday we will process out to St. Mary’s garden and pray God’s blessing upon the plants, and animals, and all the life of our parish and city, and that we might be good neighbors, showing forth the kingdom of God on earth.

THE FEAST of THE ASCENSION OF THE LORD will take place this Thursday  beginning at 5.30 p.m. with shortened Evening Prayer followed by Holy Communion.

WELCOMING OF CANDIDATE FOR HOLY BAPTISM. Today we rejoice in welcoming Terrance and Kelsi, who are presenting their son, Dante, as a candidate for Holy Baptism.

CATHEDRAL VILLAGE ARTS FESTIVAL ST. Mary’s will be host venue for a variety of entertainment  groups this Friday and Saturday night. We will also be opening our doors for tours of our beautiful nave and sanctuary from 2 unto 4 pm on Saturday.
